We are active investors who take a proactive approach to working with our portfolio companies.  We provide strategic advice through board participation, leaving the day-to-day operations of the company under management’s control. As board members, we are actively involved in strategic planning, growth initiatives, executive recruiting, resource allocation and helping management plan and execute acquisitions and liquidity strategies. JMI Equity’s extensive experience has led to the creation of a range of operating best practices for our portfolio companies.

We believe that building great companies begins with building and supporting outstanding management teams. In JMI Equity’s target industries, the most important assets are our companies’ executive leadership and employees, and their business practices, intellectual capital and customer relationships. Through our network of contacts, we actively help portfolio companies recruit top professionals at all levels, including external board members, senior management, sales executives and technical professionals. We support our management teams with well designed incentive compensation plans, equity incentives and management retention programs.

JMI Equity also has significant experience with initial public offerings and mergers and acquisitions.  Over 55 of our portfolio companies have had successful liquidity events, including 16 initial public offerings and 39 strategic sales.
